Making the most out of December plans. Day one.
I may have told you yesterday about my plans for December but I kept much else behind a veil of secrecy. You know, the invisible hand, and such.
I spent this weekend plotting out my 2026.
I always do my next year planning early December. It’s the same reason why I start my weeks on Sunday. When I show up on Monday, I want to be deep in that Tuesday energy.
I wrote that I would work with Gemini to increase subscribers. That’s a general statement, hard to grab onto like a Jello sculpture. How about something we can measure?
Because, by the end of 2026 this newsletter will have 10,000 subscribers.
That’s nuts.
The good kind.
Having spent the last couple of days learning to ask LLMs better questions I lined up a little prompt to help me deal with the corner I just painted myself into.
I want to reach 10,000 subscribers to my newsletter in 12 months. It is now December 7th, 2025. The newsletter is published daily at 6:07 AM EST, with weekdays covering a log of my AI learning from a beginners perspective, Saturdays is always about something non AI related and on Sundays I plan for the coming week. You can read them all at https://embarrassingai.beehiiv.com/. Between the text and the Bee character I think you'll get a good idea of the tone and approach of the newsletter. I currently have 8 subscribers in the space of 30 days. All from a single post on Facebook when I started and two people I talked to in person who showed interest. I used the X, FB and LinkedIn posts created by Beehiiv to promote the newsletter but they produced no results in the last 30 days. Please provide a detailed plan for how I can grow my readership to 10,000 in 12 months, including precise actions and steps I need to take. Getting the first 1,000 is probably going to be the most difficult so focus on that now. We can cover how to go from 1,000 to 10,000 later.It’s descriptive, honest and direct about what I want. There’s a North Star, but how do I get the fly wheel going first, that’s my central ask.
When I talk about thinking of interactions with AI as human conversations, this is what I mean. If you get specific, you’ll get specific. If you stay general, you’ll get slop.
Here’s the long response I got, so I stuck it into a doc.
The point is that it’s going to take real work to get there.
