Teaching myself to teach AI to teach me how to build an SEO optimized directory with AI. Day nine.
I’m a serious person. I set goals. I figure out how to make them happen, and then I get after it. I execute (I mean I get things done, not kill people). I know all about the power of focus and how damn fast it is.
I shouldn’t be this vulnerable.
But when I walked up to Gemini to finish my site building education, it decided to show me a little leg. As if it knew that I had been vibe coding on the side (it knew!).
“What would you like me to help you with today? Or would you like to try this new AI model to build a game, just whisper in my ear?”
I’m a sucker.
I’ve also been wanting to build a real estate investing game for years. Suddenly, I can just whisper sweet nothings into a robot and it will make it for me.
I went down the rabbit hole. I cannot deny.
3 minutes in it claimed to have finished the credits on the “super-great” model, offering me an option to give it my credit card to buy some credits or continue with the inferior model.
45 minutes later on the inferior model. I have some thoughts.
How intuitive it feels to talk in natural language and get results, meaning there is a chat on one side and a simulation of the game I am building on the other side, is fucking bonkers. I’ve heard that this is the experience but actually “experiencing” it is a whole different thing.
On the other hand, when you want to build complicated things, meaning something more than an interactive form which is what all the podcasts are spamming about, it takes more than 45 minutes.
It’s still bat-shit-crazy how easy it is. You just need a little time with the thing to learn how to speak to it.
I also need to learn what it really means to use different models. Let’s put that on my list.

What did I ship today?
For starters, I owe you an apology for yesterday. I promised a link to a site and it did not show up in the newsletter.
Gremlins.
But Gremlins that make technical sense.
What looks public to me does not look public to you.
I’ll figure out how to fix that.
Now to the meat of it. I could show you what I built today, but I would have to kill you.
It’s also not that interesting.
Yet.
I have a first version of a Game Design Document (GDD) and some very basic UI.
You’ll love it when it’s slightly sexier.
