Teaching myself to teach AI to teach me how to build an SEO optimized directory with AI. Day ten.
I was going to work with Claude today but he wasn’t feeling too hot because of the Cloudflare fiasco.
Google does their own internet so Gemini was doing just dandy.
The final project in my learnings with it was a bit of a dud. It was basically a script that auto-populates the description field for the listings I already have in the database.
It’s part of the solution, but not the whole shebang I was imagining when I asked it to teach me how to make an SEO optimized directory with AI. I was expecting to see more automation.
It’s probably my fault for not being more specific. Like expecting my wife to make me Lapsang Souchong when all do is say I’m thirsty.
What I want is learn how to get AI to scrape data on all of the businesses in my town, categorise them, make separate pages for each business following schemas that make google happy, and create unique descriptions for each business.
I’ll end up vibe coding it in the end, but because I will need to QA everything, I would like a basic understanding of how the different moving parts work.
Tomorrow I’ll find out what Claude will do with my expectations.
