Teaching myself to teach AI to teach me how to build an SEO optimized directory with AI. Day eleven.
Embarrassing confession time. I think complaining creates bad mojo. My wife has been trying to convince me that’s nonsense for as long as we know each other. Complaining is a release valve according to her. She may just be right.
I was bitching about Gemini and the dud it served up as the final project. Basically a simple script.
Luckily Claude is feeling better since it got it’s cloudflare back.
What a difference a day makes.
Claude suggested a final project in 4 parts which will end with scraping all of the businesses in my town, creating entrees for each one with AI enriched text, keywords, and SEO optimization and a bunch of other features we can talk about when I get to it.
Today was just about building a first proof of concept, starting from scratch rather than using previous builds. There’s a front end, a back end, APIs to both Google and Claude for scraping and text enrichment.
It’s all great, and you can see the results below.
What impressed me most though was the way it handled live deployment.
It did not take 15 minutes as initially estimated. More like 2 hours. Much of that had to do with me not following instructions carefully enough. But the rest had to do with versions of apps changing, and needing to change the deployment strategy on the fly while I was giving it so-so information on what was really happening.
The ability to create a forward moving narrative that got me ever closer to deploying was much more impressive than showing me how to build a site from the ground up with a couple of API integrations.

This time I can show you a version of the site. Let’s call it V1, because it’ll get better as I complete project 5. For the first time, I wrote 0% of the content.
