Teaching myself to teach AI to teach me how to build an SEO optimized directory with AI. Day thirteen.

In the background I’m working on building out the rest of my automated registry. When something interesting happens I’ll come brag about it.

In the mean time, I’m thinking about how to sharpen the way I prompt the 🤖 .

Remember I said that it helps to treat the AI like you’re having a conversation with a person? Here’s someone who said to avoid exactly that.

If you ignore the clickbaity titles and hooks, the point he’s trying to make is quite useful, and not necessarily in contradiction to my observation about conversationalism. His point is that the quality of the output of AI is in direct proportion to the input. The better the instructions you give it, the better questions you ask, the better answers you get.

This often gets taken to absurd levels, with people claiming that they have found killer prompts that engineer the best answers. I think talking to AI is steeped in the voodoo of terminology like almost every profession. Like marketers going on about CAC or RE investors about IRR. It sounds foreign until it no longer is. Prompting AI effectively is still simple, even if I take his advice on board.

Be specific in what you are asking, what the context of the question is, and the type of answer you are looking at.

And then you have to practice until it becomes second nature.
