Teaching myself to teach AI to teach me how to build an SEO optimized directory with AI. Day fourteen.
The biggest issue I continue to run into is one of memory. Not the kind on your computer, that’s RAM. I mean the ability of AI to remember what it told me to do earlier in a conversation. I used to think that this lapse of memory only happened when a chat ran out of runway and I had to start a new one.
That’s why I talked about the utility of using projects in Claude to ensure that context and specific instructions stay consistent over time.
I’m not so sure right now to what extent that works.
There seems to be a loss of memory if I continue a chat after being away for an extended amount of hours (more than 12-24).
I may be hallucinating this because the AI recovers quickly when I recontextualize it, but that is only because I manage to identify some kind of error early in the continued chat.
So far I am seeing this in my continued training project on building a directory. This has been on going for 3 weeks now. This is not a set of instructions being repeated and leading to different results each time. The ripples seem to show up because we have built a code base, and some of the assumptions the AI makes about what is in it are wrong, even though the entire code base is the result of instructions it has given, and should be able to access because it is still in the chat.
Like I said, code is voodoo.

What did I ship today?
As of writing, I am still running a scrape of all of the businesses in my town. It’s likely to run a couple of hours, collecting businesses, writing ~250 words for each description, and verifying there are no duplicates.
I’ll be back tomorrow to verify.
